Team, we have a โค๏ธ Mental Health tag & Dr in the house ๐Ÿฅณ
There is no productivity, no personal development, no career growth, no following your dreams & aspirations without feeling well & supported. In this post, I want to introduce you to a new initiative by a community member @David C-k: About @David C-k : Please meet, Dr David Crepaz-Keay FRSPH; Head of Research and Applied Learning, Mental Health Foundation. Just for clarity, the Dr. is academic, not clinical. (p.s. 100 respect points to @David C-k for making this distinction) โ†’ I'm a Public Mental Health specialist and worked as senior mental health advisor to Public Health England's Every Mind Matters work. โ†’ I have also been a technical advisor to the World Health Organisation, and have been a co-chair of the International Society of Psychiatric Genetics Ethics and Policy Committee. โ†’ I am an editor of the Journal of Mental Health Training, Education and Practice โ†’ and an editor of the Oxford Handbook of Philosophy and Public Mental Health where I'm leaving the section on future and emerging issues which will include a number of chapters on: ๐Ÿ‘‰ mental health in the digital age. ๐Ÿ‘ˆ โ†’ I also have a particular interest in self-management and power support - what we can do to look after our own and reach others' mental health. Now... why I am super excited about this: 1. @David C-k brings years of expertise, and research to critical topics like the crossroads of mental health & digital age. 2. I have never talked about this, but I have struggled with depression in 2021. I think my therapist did phenomenal work to get me functional & help me navigate it. But I was also blessed to have the means and access to this help. 3. I hear so many cases of people using AI tools for their mental health. What will be the impacts of that is extremely interesting to me. ๐Ÿšจ How to use this tag: 1. Approach it with kind heart as any other place in this community. 2. Share your ideas, what helped you & start discussions etc. 3. Ask for help, share what is blocking you from progressing further, etc. 4. @David C-k will own the tag, so he is your first touch point, but I welcome anyone to join in the conversation & get involved!

The art of prompting is what makes the difference between a helpful interaction with AI and one that is not so useful, and it is really important to remember that LLMs are Statistical Models that can be very useful, but not real people. That said, GPTs can sometime provide advice that can feel really insightful and helpful. They can also be used as verbal punching bags when prompted correctly...

I struggle a lot with Time. Now, my time tracking is far from perfect, but I have been using Swipetimes on Android for a year or so and being able to view time spent on x is really valuable for me. Otherwise, Time just vanishes. @Goda Go , the Conference was really impactful and some of the comments by the speakers have kept me pondering for the past week. After 8 hours of work, it was not easy, but the time spent was well worth it. I did not know what to think of AI beyond my personal daily usage, so the conference expanded my view on the matter. Thank you!
Hi from Sweden!
I am from Italy but of Japanese descent. I write automation tests, fix them, and cross my fingers by day, and I side-hustle online when I have some HP points left. Fun fact: I speak Italian, Japanese, English, and Swedish and I am currently learning Finnish (you can find me on Duolingo) because when I went to Finland last summer, none of the language made any sense to me, which I though was wonderful and novel! I am not big on social media, but here is my linkedin: www.linkedin.com/in/tetsurokawabata

Thanks for connecting! I think a lot of language learning can be done with tech, like using edge to read text out loud (apparently there is now a plugin for Obsidian using the edge TTS) but ChatGPT can do all sorts of useful things, such as correcting grammar, creating simple exercises, and explain why a grammar works in a specific way in a specific context (this is similar to getting AI to explain code or programming concepts). My favorite usecase is saying "I still don't get it!" and adding context as understanding increases (since in the beginning, I might not understand even what I am trying to get at).
