Putting comfort into a cold world
…or at least trying to. As some of you know, Steve, Ashna, and I love a family project. I shared with friends how moved I was by Itaru Sasaki’s “wind phone” in Ōtsuchi, Japan, which he built as a gesture of love in response to overwhelming grief. A wind phone is a real phone not connected to a line of any sort, where anyone can “call” and speak to someone who isn’t here anymore, or to say the words that need somewhere to go. The world feels heavy lately, and it’s hard to watch so many people hurting and divided. May the phone bring comfort, connection, and peace to all who need it. I’m thinking about adding 988 stickers and wrist bands for people. I’m open to any suggestions. ❤️

Introduce Yourself
This is a gentle space to say hello and let us get to know you at your own pace. There’s no pressure to share anything personal — just whatever feels comfortable. You can share things like: • your name or nickname • where you’re from • what brought you here • what you’re hoping to learn or find • anything that supports you on hard days • something you enjoy or look forward to You’re welcome to share as little or as much as you’d like. And if introducing yourself feels overwhelming right now, it’s okay to return later. You’re already part of the community just by being here. We’re grateful you found your way into this space. You belong here.

Hello! • I'm Rima! But my DOH name is "Eagle Eye" - I"m legally blind. ;) • I'm from everywhere but have lived in Boston for nearly 20 years. • I'm here because DOH lifted me up when I was at a low point. I tried to do the Killington Beast. I was solo and I was slow because of my eyes. I got to the final water station maybe a half mile from finish, but it was so dark and my head lamp wasn't working. I am night blind so I had to crab walk over to the water station just hearing for voices. I decided to DNF and a kind volunteer let me wear his hoodie because it was so cold. I was so upset.. I couldn't sleep that night. I felt like my eyes kept me from a goal, and I hated it. My husband wouldn't let me stay down. He said, I can't let this defeat you and you can't let this defeat you. Try again with guides! I met up with Joey and crew the next month in NJ and completed the Beast there. A year later, Tricia and Jenn got me through Killington with a finish. I am so grateful!
