How do you combine PIRF, DDM, and Let’s Master English effectively?
Hi everyone 👋 I’m currently a member of PIRF and DDM, and I’ve also joined Let’s Master English. I want to study consistently without getting overwhelmed. How do you personally combine PIRF, DDM, and this community in your weekly routine? Which one do you use as your main system, and which ones as support?

@Yusuf Akın My English learning journey with Coach Shane is started from English Camp, after one year, I assigned 8 week speaking course and completed it within 8 weeks. Then, assigned DDM VIP & PIRF VIP. I am a little weak in self-conscious, I choose those course as much as I can to push myself keeping learning, cuz I totally realized my English level is really really low.... For DDM, once I got the video, I watched the video two or three times, then listened it many times during the daytime, completed dictation at night. LTA, AWS, submitted within three days before the answer video approached. For PIRF, I often high line those words I felt difficult or I had pronunciation problems, check the meaning line by line with AI, then read it loudly three or five times at the morning and evening. LTA, AWS, BQ, MYPIRF, English Camp Challenges, those speaking challenges are not easy for me, I have to put many times to organize my words, otherwise, I can't express what I want to say. That is the most tough thing for me. Finally, join as much live classes as I can. I haven't count how many classes I joined, but I almost on live classes every night, sometimes from 7pm to 12am. I don't feel stress or stuck in overwhelm, learning make my life fulfilled, I only just feel frustrated, upset and shamed sometimes as my low level and slowly progress.

@Moxa Xie No, no, no.... I’m far away from you guys. You’re my role models, and I really try to follow your example. The only thing I regret is that I was too lazy in the past. Sometimes my mind feels blank, like I threw away everything I learned in school. My English foundation is really really weak — in reading, writing, and speaking, I have a lot of catching up to do. I really admire your English. I hope one day I can communicate as fluently as you.😘💪
Intrusive R Pronunciation Problem
Yesterday, I attended the Throwback PIRFsday class organized by Coach @Serge Gray. This class is very popular, and I love it. All members have the opportunity to try, and the coach provides valuable feedback. It's really cool! So, don't hesitate to join this class on Thursday! In the class, we discussed some pronunciation problems, especially the "intrusive R" issue common among Chinese students. Since I also face this issue, I did some research and summarized the following points. Hope it helps others. WHY? 1️⃣Erhua (儿化音) in Mandarin: The "er" sound at the end of syllables in Mandarin can lead some Chinese speakers to over-articulate or add it between vowels where it doesn’t belong. 2️⃣Pinyin "r": “r” in Pinyin is a totally different pronunciation from the R sound in English. While some Chinese may mix-up them or apply the “r” to English directly. 3️⃣"L" Sound: “l” sound in Chinese is similar with dark L in English. They have the same tongue position but Chinese need put the tongue back quickly after reaching the point to make the “l” in Chinese. This may lead to some mix-ups for us. 4️⃣……(more but not the main causes per my opinion, so waived 200 characters here...🤣) WHAT? Based on my own and some classmates' problems, I summarized the sounds we would mix-up or add the extra R sound incorrectly with some exampled words: ✖️L Sound: especially when the word is ended with L sound, such as feel / will / small / real / all / beautiful / successful ✖️Schwa: idea / media / area / umbrella / camera / famous / campus ✖️AW Sound: saw / draw / always / walk / daughter / thought / dog / lost / ✖️Long U: use / you / cute / student ✖️Long O: go / home / boat / snow ✖️Short U: study / duck / cup / mud ✖️…… (please add some more based on your scenarios) HOW? ✅Correct Pronunciation: Learn the correct pronunciation of words and pay attention while speaking. ✅Avoid Extra "R": If there's no "R" in the word, don't add one. ✅Practice Techniques - this section was given by AI but I think they're great! 😆

S.China, especially in GD province, we often forget R sound, and I also have problems of Short O+R, it’s not only “AR”, but also has “er” sound, like CAR sounds CAR er~ , ARE sounds ARE er~ I don’t know whether I had expressed it clear. 😂

@Mariel Liang I am not good at PINGYIN as I often say Cantoness, also I almost just use WUBI type method, so I often make mistake on JUANSHE. But, I heard "儿化“ in TV drama, especial BEIJING drama. And, yes, when I practiced speaking assignments in our live classes, some coaches corrected me that Car/Are should be...add something like "er""儿化“. Of course, maybe this case just cuz my R sound is not enough, maybe I should stretch it longer...

1. Sorry: AW; because: Schwa; 2. "I know about the tractor story" - Jerry thought it's a big, long scar where Sophie's leg would dangle when she’s riding a tractor. 3. Oh, boy; Oh, man; -- Naturally tone mnemonic . Oh, girl; Oh, woman; -- It should be my girl, my woman, talk to specify person. 4. "It's me" -- On Phone means: I'm Jerry. In this sentence, Jerry emphasizes he is a good man, he doesn't care about the tractor story.
