WHO SAYS SEARCH TERMS HAVE TO BE WORDS 🪩 💛💚?
In @Brenda Rigney's recent post about her Daily Gems 💎, I shared how I’ve been using little custom emoji combos as search terms, to help my RoomMates find bundles of related content in a feed that’s grown to more than 500 posts in the past nine months. @Lindsay MacGregor asked if she could borrow this idea for her own Community. Of course, my answer is "Of course!" I thought I’d share this more formally here with some screenshots to explain it further, in case it’s useful for anyone else who wants to give it a try… My Skool is all about colour, so the feed is very colour-FULL, but there are only so many colour words and many of them apply to lots of posts. My Premium content posts get labelled with a 🪩, and I have a Category called '🪩 PREMIUM’ that will call up all the posts related to that Premium Tier content. But I can filter that down even further using colour-coded hearts, with posts that relate to specific colour-themed Premium Classrooms. For example, one of my Premium Classrooms is called '🪩 💛💚 THE YELLOW-GREEN ROOM' (first screenshot). If someone searched the Community using just using the word ’Yellow,’ they’d get 259 results (second screenshot), or ’Green,’ 182 results. Even 'Yellow-Green' together has 48 results (third screenshot). They could filter by selecting the '🪩 PREMIUM' Category, but that’s still spills onto Page 2 of the feed with more than 30 results. The Yellow-Green Room has seven lessons, each one links to a post in the Community, and each post title starts with the same set of three emojis: 🪩 💛💚. You can find all seven posts (and only those seven) by using the '🪩 💛💚' emojis as the search term (fourth screenshot). With only ten spots for Categories, I don’t have enough to make them 'colour-coded,' so creating unique search terms with emojis is a great way to add eye candy to your post titles (easy to find in the scroll), and a fun and effective way for your members to be able to filter your feed.

@Kimberly Armatys I don't have (need for) a cheat sheet yet. But you never know.
Level 3 Daily Gems 💎
I'm literally giving away all of my intel on growing a business on Skool in our Daily Gems 💎. Two ways to find them: - Click on the category "Daily Gems 💎" and discover all them and other people's posts - Get to Level 3 and they are all there with tools All the posts have easy to follow infographics.

Such a great idea to give these posts their own Category!

@Lindsay MacGregor there are only so many Categories, so I've been including little text+emoji clues in related posts so they can be searched as bundles. It's kinda fun to see a cohesive collection of posts on their own, filtered out of the feed...

@Kimberly Armatys I love this bouquet of ways we can celebrate what it means to be a mom, and also celebrate being the recipient of how maternal love can bloom... 🌺🌻🌸🌷🌼🪻

I've jumped to the #3 spot for watercolor painting! 🤩🖌️🎨
I know Sam just turned on the new Discovery Search, but I never expected it would bring me from the 9th spot to the 3rd for my category (9th is the highest I've ever been before)!!! Usually, my students find me by searching watercolor or watercolor painting, and for now I am above the fold for those searches!!!!! What???? 😅 I am now at #287 in Discovery, which is the highest I've ever been. My Daily activity has gone up quite a bit this week with a challenge/live session I'm running. So I'm sure that's a big reason. Has anyone else seen some differences since the new changes in Skool search?

@Cathy Anderson Maybe you could make some of your key words super niche? That might be the key to connecting you with your perfect peeps...

Top 3? Yippee! That's super exciting! Having key words for people to find us just makes soooo much sense. Isn't it satisfying when you find 'your people'? And isn't it equally frustrating when you invest time searching for something and don't get anywhere? Now, anyone looking for the unique thing that we have to offer will be able to find us faster, connecting with us and others who share the same passion. That's a win-win all around! I was stalled near the 200s for ages in Discovery (Hobbies), but Brenda’s Built To Be Summit gave me some momentum, and I’ve been steadily climbing since (#160 at the moment). With 8 of my 11 keyword search terms, I'm showing up at #1.
