What is perfectionism?
[ROAST MY LESSON] Expanding a little on the subject on today's poll, this is a deep subject that I was talking to @Aimee Jardon in her community. Most people think that perfectionism is a positive thing. It's the cliche answer you give to the HR in a job interview when they ask you what your biggest flaw is. "Oh I loose too much time in the details, I got to make everything perfect." But beyond the cliches, this is indeed a flaw that can damage our career, our relationships and even our spiritual evolution. Not just a quircky thing you tell recruiters. A lot of people confuse perfectionism with diligence and caring. They are diferent things. The problem of perfectionists is not being able to tolerate flaws, not wanting to be perceived as flawed and being afraid of failing. And all of that is paralysing. You can spend hours and hours wanting to reach the most perfect result you can get, because you're diligent and realy care about your craft, and that's great. But if you're afraid of failure and obsessed with achieving absolute success, to the point of scraping and giving up on taking action, than that's a problem. It takes courage to suck at something, to face negative feedback, to see the flaws in our craft and learn from our mistakes, to realize we're not as good as we thought we were, but that's the only way we can grow. How many times did we ditch a great opportunity because we were afraid of being perceived as not enough? If we go deeper into philosophical / religious territory, wanting to be perfect (or even being perceived as perfect) is a fatal sin in itself. It's what caused the fall of Lucifer. The fallen angel wanted to be in the place of God, the only perfect being. The refusal of accepting our own flaws is a sickness of our ego. Being diligent is not being being afraid of flaws, being a perfectionist is. It's a sin derivated from vanity, and one that we all have to face and fight inside ourselves.

I think it is in Factfulness that Hans Rosling talks about the fact that perfectionism means using resources in one area that would actually have been better used somewhere else. Taking a step back and realising that pursuing perfection in the current thing is definitely having a disproportionate negative effect somewhere else helps us reset!
Hey hi
Little personal news: I'm moving to a different state. I've been living at a different state than my family for the past 4 years. Now im moving back to be closer to them for 2 reasons: - Raising a child away from family support is super hard. - We got our own apartment there, so that means no more rent. Just a small debt for a quick 30 years, it will go by fast. So I'm not giving up on this place. Just too busy trying to box everything, sell some stuff, find a painter to deliver our rented house and other moving arrangements. I'll be back to the old rhythm in a couple of weeks hopefully with better support for everything and more time to work on my projects and give all of you the roastings you're looking for.

Hope it all works out smoothly! Having the support you need around you is so important! And as your Skool builds you'll be able to pay off that 30 years much quicker!

Travelling for work , low on time, bad wifi
Hey guys, I'm on a work related travel this week, thought I would be able to keep things up as usual, but actually not so much. Got too much to do with the client and the wifi from the hotel is horrible. Next week things will be back to normal with quick roasts and daily roasty themed scores. But I'm very grateful for all of you who are keeping this community alive in my absense. Here are the top 3 scores that I had to count almost by hand: 1st: @Gus Gray owner Career Skool: 68 points 2nd: @Elliott Robertson owner of The Inner Mystic and Earthlings for Peace: 64 points 3rd: @Alexandra Alexa owner of The Growth Network: 48 points And a special thanks for @Dave Hughes @Aimee Jardon @Chrissy Hogue Bartels @Nick Nebelsky @Cristal Vancarson @Matthias Schweiker also being very active here.

Roast Request
Hi folks, please roast my Skool group's About page. My community is focused on Character Design (for games, film, etc) & Avatar Design (AI Influencers & the like), with a bit of virtual fashion to complement the characters. The group is brand-new (launched 2 weeks ago) and my first Skool group. I want to make it the best I can for my community members, so please be brutally honest. All feedback is welcome. Thanks! skool.com/ai-character-academy-2817

I like the weekly drops chest! Under the "What you'll unlock" you have "Engage to Level Up" - this doesn't feel like something I unlock but something I have to do, and it is the same for every community. What comes after is great, but these four words don't do it justice! There is nothing about why this community, your credibility, your experience. There's no proof or testimonials. Do you have some more images or video reels, that show some of what the outputs will be like, or the processes? How do people get what you offer - is it just prompt packs or packs and vaults or do you have lessons, videos, calls, reviews etc? Love the bit about continuity - and makes me think about the problems there are and how you can use the pain points to connect with your target audience a bit more!
