@Owen Palmer I’m all ears
Resonance Risk
Listening to member tracks sent to me recently, I realise I need to make this point clear. When it comes to the business of de-resonating sounds, LOW frequency resonances tend to pose a LOW risk, and HIGH frequency sounds tend to pose a HIGH risk. That's NOT to say there's absolutely no place for high frequency resonance whatsoever (tambourines, anyone?). Rather, high frequency resonances must be handled with extra care and attention. That's also NOT to say that all low frequency resonance is automatically fine, just that it's relatively less likely to cause real problems. Excessive hi hat, shaker, or ride/crash cymbal resonance in particular seriously give me the ick. Potentially the same issue for the high frequency area on a snare, clap, or even a kick top. P.S. Low frequency resonance is essential/unavoidable for virtually all music, whereas high frequency resonance could, in some cases, potentially be omitted entirely.

🔥 REMIX CONTEST RESULTS 🔥
Directly from the main man, Mark Giles: "Dear everyone, [I'M BROKE IBIZA] would like to sincerely thank you all for your incredible efforts in the BLIND remix competition via Owen Palmer. It has been truly inspiring to witness such talent and to see how you've embraced our wider family of producers in an industry that is constantly evolving. We are excited to build upon these contributions as the world navigates this digital revolution of AI and advanced machine learning. In these times, musical integrity and personal integrity remain so important amid the wider spiritual battles we all face daily. Many of us who have been in this space for some time "observing the nature of the beast" have carved out clear pathways, achieving what we consider modest successes. We hope that in the future we can inspire others to join these battles, particularly the men in our stories, our brothers from other mothers. Brothers in arms, fighting the good fight. Music was our first love, and we were lucky to find each other so quickly within the simulation. Music is always loyal, ever ready to transport us back through our life's journey with love, vibes, listening, appreciation, and memories. Whatever happens, we must remain appreciative of the fact that God has given us all such talents and gifts: eyes to see, ears to hear, hearts to trust, and one central eye to find our way through the darkness so that we may fill it with our creative spirit. Thank you all again. Mark & Hamilton" - Official winners: #1 Prize @Evgeny Bardyuzha - 2,000,000 Sats or £2000 #2 Prize @Fabio Piazzalunga - 500,000 Sats or £500 #3 Prize @Arturs Ivanovs & @George Hughes - the offer to create a collaboration track (Tech Bass House) together. When finished, the work will be paid. All finalists will be asked to join the I'M BROKE IBIZA label Di$tinct REC, all rights reserved.

Half of me is gutted, the other half incredibly grateful for the opportunity to just about make it by the skin of my teeth as a ‘winner’ in a genre I do not specialise in, and be given a chance to make something else for the label. But I have to agree with the final decision, the best man won. Congratulations @Evgeny Bardyuzha 🔥 I would love a wav copy of your remix so I can study it. @Arturs Ivanovs - lets get to work!!!

@Owen Palmer lesson well and truly learned 😂
Edit: CRITIQUE VIDEO ADDED 🔥Remix Competition🔥
Backstory: There's a group of 90s rave producers from the UK (well-established and well-connected, but I can't say who they are). These guys are in the process of launching a new house imprint. My understanding is there will be a label, plus parties in Ibiza, the whole shebang. Very serious guys making big moves. They're throwing a load of resources at this project. They want a killer remix of a 125BPM house track, "Oceans", but they want the remix to be done in a house style (no jungle, gabber, ambient, etc). So here's the plan: An EXCLUSIVE opportunity for OTG members! IF you think you're up to providing a hot remix in a house style, private message me and I'll supply you with the stems pack. CONFIRMED DEADLINE: 30th June 2026 (no specific time as I'll be sending the tracks across on 1st July) There will be ONE official winner. The winner gets paid a remix fee, which will get a release... And I've been told there may be further opportunities beyond that. There are no second prizes. HOWEVER, I am willing to give unlimited feedback (capacity/time allowing) on all remix entries before submission. This is to make it a worthwhile exercise even for the non-winners, and to keep the quality control high. The remix does not need to be "perfect". However, you'll be able to tell from the stems, these guys know what they're doing and will expect a polished product.
