Skills I wish were on the BCBA exam
We had 180 questions, but not one of them asked if I knew how to: • Open a juice pouch quietly • Catch a flying iPad • Navigate insurance portals without crying • Explain the value of manding to a skeptical grandparent Let’s crowdsource. What random skills have actually been the most useful in your practice?

First the serious: -Self-regulation skills (I owe mine entirely to the Sanctuary Model) -Professional letter writing. Never an official part of the job description, but I do this far too often -Active listening -Troubleshooting staff implementation -Conflict resolution -Advocating for yourself and others with your superiors On a lighter note: -Deciphering toddler speech -Building an awesome train track -Optimal bubble blowing -Leaving work at work -Remembering to check all the necessary boxes on RBT competency assessments

@Mark Malady messing up truly is an underrated teaching strategy
Insurance Nightmare
Just out of curiosity: Is anyone else who deals with insurance noticing an increase in denials or additional info requests within the past 3 months? I don't have data to support, but anecdotally I didn't have anyone turned away for 2 years and suddenly I'm getting hit with them left and right!

@Matt Harrington that's what I was worried about! I'd kind of been hoping maybe I was just letting my plan writing skills slip

@Ashleigh Dominguez I'm in central Pennsylvania. I'm just getting so discouraged because even with more information included in my plans, I'm constantly being asked for more! What a mess.
Burn out
Anyone else feeling school staff are more burnt at this time of year as compared to past years?

I'm in an AS classroom and the poor teacher has been running ragged since day 1. I feel for them!
Journal Club Over Coffee- RBT Pay?
Sorry about the lower quality of the video, I had to use my backup recorder! The article is attached, it's a good one, with some large limitations! Question for the group: If you manage staff, do you think that they would change jobs for a 20% raise? Why or why not?

There certainly are some pretty strong EOs operating on pay pursuit behaviors right now
