@Amanda Berridge you were busy and each creation was great!
Yarn winders
Manual vs Electric I have both manual and electric winders and was using both this morning so I wanted to do a little review on what I think of them and which I prefer. I think there are pros and cons with both manual and electric winders. I’ve found that some manual winders work better than others. The one that I feature in this post is the grey one in the photos. I am very impressed with this manual winder. It’s very smooth and winds fast. Will wind a whole 100gram ball with no problem. Very rarely tangles. I only have one electric winder and I like it very much. It winds a nice cake of yarn while you do something else! lol.. however, I have found that if you have it winding too fast, the yarn will catch and tangle and you can spend a lot of time unraveling. It winds nice and even and takes a 100gram ball easily. Winding tension is much better with the manual machine, you get a much firmer ball with the manual. The electric one winds looser and can unravel when knitting. You can see in the photos the manual wound vs the electric wound. I think that it’s down to how you like your yarn wound. I’ve found that tighter wound cakes work much better on the machines and knit a much more even tension. Also… I can manually wind 100gram quicker than the electric one does it! 😁 Hope this has helped a bit!!

I have a manual yarn winder (never tried electric) and I love it. When Hampton used it, as he said, his was messy and felt like a marshmallow. He’s a lefty, so I thought that might have been the problem. So I tried it yesterday, using my left hand and it worked fine. Key was I held the yarn slightly tight and I think for him it was loosely held. I also did fast and slow which is what he was doing, and it came out fine. He did the white skein and I did the gray, same Loops &Threads yarn, only difference is color. I wound the full 7 oz 198 g skein, while when I tried finishing up for him I couldn’t add anymore to the cake. I also did a white one but I didn’t take a picture. I didn’t time mysel but it was pretty fast!
Making progress
I'm making progress on my blanket. It is turning out great so far. I just thought I would share.

Wow! You’re moving right along. Can’t wait to see the finished blanket. What size is it going to be?
Ugh...
Ever have a day when you think, "I'm done. I'm just so done." ? Today is that day for me. I think I need to walk away from all my machines today. First the Caydo motor quit. I've emailed them back and forth, now I'm waiting for their next replay. Then Amazon delivered the Geocci motor for my Addi's, so I thought the day was getting better! It works fine on the 22, though I do not currently have any projects for just the 22. So I moved on to set the motor up on the 46. But I cannot get the knob off the handle of the 46. I think I've stripped the head of the screw and now I can't turn the screw at all. I've tried 3 different screwdrivers, all with the same issue. The crosshairs on the top of the screw look more like a crater now instead of a cross. I'm done...

@Susan Weller sorry to hear that. Praying you will be better soon!

I have the Geocci motor, but I thought it said it was only for the Addi 46! If it’s working for you on the 22, then I’m going to jump on it now that I will be focusing on solid color tubes! Thanks to @Julie Findleton video, the rolling up of tubes has gotten much easier, but I think my maximum # of rows will be 205 including waste yarn because it does get a little harder to roll at that point.
Boo Hoo Hoo …
I’m wide awake, caught up on all of my notifications; however, son and grands are asleep on my bedroom floor so I can’t get to cranking! I’ve probably made a lot of typos in my comments because I have my iPad on dark mode and can barely read a thing!

On 3/3/26, I started using the Addi knitting machine with a goal to make items to donate to Durham’s Maternal Stress-Free Zone.
