๐Ÿ“… Daily Check-in - July 9, 2026 ๐Ÿ’ญ Reflection: "I've been struggling with my weight. I eat well, too well and too much of it. That's the problem, I keep saying to myself I will start exercising and jump on the stationary bike that I bought 2 years ago and sat on it once. I say ok I'm starting tomorrow. Tomorrow comes... and I put it off to the next day. I can work on my neighbour's deck, I can work on my project, but exercise... that is one that I have a really hard time implementing in my schedule. I know what I need to do. It is to sit on it for 5 minutes to get me going, I need to just start... maybe tomorrow. I added it to my calendar... ๐Ÿ“… Daily Check-in - July 11, 2026 ๐Ÿ’ญ Reflection: Later today my wife and I will be leaving for Germany again to attend my mom's funeral (we were there a few weeks ago for a vacation and to see my mom while she was still alive) - she looked like she was in better physical shape than last time I saw her, 3 years ago. She died peacefully and painfree in her sleep last Monday. I did my morning walk and decided to ring the doorbell at Kerstin's house around the corner, just to find out if she is alive and doing ok. I had not seen her for quite a while - we sometimes meet when she walks her cute MaltiYork dog Layla past our house. We had a very open talk about ADD, ADHD, Autism, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (Kerstin's daughter Emma and my daughter Jennifer both have it). I tried to be a good listener, I could sense Kerstin's exhaustion. She is drawn between two worlds: her German home, and her Canadian home. She never got along with her mom, and most of the hoped for parental love and recognition came in the form of non-acceptance and criticism. I will visit her again when we are back. There is also the prospect of getting to look after her dog Layla from time to time - a prospect I am really looking forward to. I encouraged her to use us as dog sitters whenever she needs. Now I might take a 20 minute nap, and then finish packing. The plan is to get picked up by an Uber at 16:30. I set a deadline for myself, mid-September, for Phase 1. It's coming along quite well. Today I set a goal to at least get my but on the stationary bike, even if I just sit on it. At a stadium with several thousand people for our convention. I had my in-laws in the car with me and my youngest. Wife and oldest came earlier. My youngest backed all his clothing. Had everything picked out, and left his dress shirts at home. Heโ€™s autistic, so a little panic from him. I had a shirt he could use and wash. Everything ok after that. Sitting in seats. Too many people, but it will be worth it. One small win is I made it here without freaking out while driving with all the cars.
