good question, i've always wondered that myself.. i can only see it being used maybe in a multi-tenancy environment where you want to firewall off certain systems from each other? just guessing here..
What does your 2026 Home lab stack look like?
I tossed out some thoughts on what a 2026 home lab stack might contain. Check out my Ultimate Home Lab Starter Stack for 2026 (Key Recommendations) #homelab #homeserver https://www.virtualizationhowto.com/2025/12/ultimate-home-lab-starter-stack-for-2026-key-recommendations/

i think my stack is going to look alot (externally) like my current setup, but i will be looking into hosting more services as lxc containers vs vm's to conserve on memory footprint.

@Brandon Lee well i purchased more minipcs.. got a great deal on ebay for some lenovo M715Q models here in canada.. so i'll be setting up a talos linux cluster when they arrive.. i have 6 8GB sodimms laying around so i'll have each with 16gb.. not enough for proxmox, but enough for talos linux.. at the price of 8GB sodimms being about $60 CDN, the cost of the minipcs themselves were a steal
