How My Sewing Machine Found Me
Hi everyone! My name is Priscilla! I live in a small town in Montana. My roots came from Texas. As my intro, I want to tell you a story on how my machine found me. I love going to thrift stores, and one day I saw a bunch of sewing machines on the floor. Several of them had prices, but one in particular caught my eye and had no price. I went up to the front and asked someone for help and they said they don't know anything about sewing. "How's $20? I can't guarantee it works." I said "sure, $20 sounds fair." But I walked out of the thrift store knowing that I found a true treasure. I looked it up, and it's an Elna 6005 Heirloom Edition. It even had the instruction manual stuffed into the hardcover case with hand written notes in it. A hard cover case not shown in the images below, all of the original feet and everything. It's a Swiss/Japanese-engineered brand and It can retail anywhere from $1,600 to $2,500 that does embroidery and hundreds of different king of stitches. On the back of the machine, there was sticker that said it was serviced in 2013 at a local quilt shop in town. So I took there the owner said "this is a very rare find. It most likely came from a widow who didn't know what to do with it. The woman who owned this wouldnt just donate this kind of machine to a thrift store.... It looks like it was loved well and taken care of. if you take care of this machine, it will last you the rest of your life" Sewing on it felt like using brand new pair of scissors for the first time. It just sewed differently than any machine I've ever used. She's perfect. It's an honor to own her and sew with her. Her name is Elaina.
