Don't Skip the Skipping ✨
This week, almost every client consultation had the same theme running through it: overwhelm, tension, contraction, headaches, RSI, burnout, anxiety. The common denominator was excessive connection, WhatsApp, Email, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and the sheer amount we're expected to experience, make space for and respond to every day. But here's the thing I've noticed, we're also part of that process because we place a lot of pressure on ourselves too. Yesterday, after working nonstop for several hours, I could feel my shoulders creeping up towards my ears, tension building in my traps and RSI kicking in. My phone was still flashing with more to do. And I remembered my 1:1 session last week where we talked about fun, but also the importance of those things that don't involve numbers, that are nonlinear, creative, abstract and emotional. I have a fierce attachment to time and order and designated times for doing and enjoying myself. So despite believing I didn't have time and needed to crack on, I took a break, put Madonna on and just let my body move. The freedom of this actually gave me a hit of energy. It reminded me of a quote I read recently along the lines of ... "There is nothing more joyful than a child who wants to skip, that's how much energy they have, they can't keep their feet on the ground." That's exactly what happened, as you can see from the video that energy transferred to Hamish too. I've also been singing some of my favourite songs on my dog walks. So in line with our PACE this week I encourage/remind you to do the same whatever this fun and freedom could look like to you. Five minutes here, ten minutes there. On a walk, in the kitchen, in your bedroom. I know it can feel harder when you share space with other people, doing something that might look a bit crazy but it's such an important part of reconnecting with yourself. I'd love to see some evidence below, whether it be a doodle, dance, lying down in the grass, playing an instrument, singing .... anything 👇✨

Who's doing this...?
This has come up a lot this week. Oliver calls it "getting your hand dirty" Mindbody practitioners call it graded exposure Some people call it pattern interrupt Basically not doing what we've always done or following the thought pattern/reaction that arises first. Responding differently. Walking towards the things we've perceived a dangerous. A symptom Saying "no" Putting your needs first Allowing emotions Allowing others emotions and not fixing them Bread Carbs Fun Staying up late Would love to here you thoughts 💫

Recording: Finding Safety In Your Body
Hello 👋 So lovely to see some of you last night and I hope you found the session useful ✨ Attached is the recording for those who wish to watch it back. Oliver combines teaching with a 15 minute meditation / somatic practice here so have your notebook ready at the start and then relax into your practice setting at the end. The last half hour is member shares 💕 He's kindly sent me some resources and a message to you all 👇 --------- Finding Safety in the Body 1️⃣ I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who attended the session, for the fantastic questions at the end, and for welcoming me so warmly into your little community! I’ve listed some post-session resources below that I would love to share with you: No Where To Go, No One To Be [This is in the Practical Classroom under Oliver meditations] This is a very easy somatic meditation from me, through which Keris originally found me. 2️⃣ Havening Technique - Paul McKenna https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DiydCEAH4m8 A quick and simple run-through of this technique from the man himself. This technique is a go-to for me! 3️⃣ Is the need to be DOING robbing you of the magic of simply BEING? https://www.oliverjamesjenkin.com/blog/is-the-need-to-be-doing-robbing-you-of-the-magic-of-simply-being An easy read article of mine. I touched on this in the session about the link between safety in the body and returning to the value and utility that can be inherently found not through our action but in our being-ness. Final Thoughts… I look forward to seeing you all again in the future, and just want to remind you, as Keris so wisely said, the themes and practices we explored are all part of a learning process - so go easy on yourself, less is often more, and ultimately they are just tools to reveal the magic that is already there. If you are interested in exploring working with me one-on-one, I have a fantastic offer currently running for a 90-min session, suitable for all-levels of experience. I’ll leave the details below…
