The wind is blowing so hard we can’t keep doors or windows open. And to crown it all, we jumped from 24° yesterday to over 30° today — with the wind feeling like a hairdryer. Inside the house its cooler than outside, and tomorrow we’re back to 23°, before Tuesday shoots up to the 30s again. The weather is officially on a rollercoaster. 🎢 👉 How’s it looking where you are?

I was sitting here typing away when a thought crossed my mind… or maybe I should say, a question popped into my head: “What makes me like South Africa so much?” Is it the wild landscapes, the ocean waves, the braais, the languages, or the laughter we share even in tough times? Maybe it’s all of it together. The way ordinary moments here turn into extraordinary stories. South Africa is more than a place. It’s a feeling. It’s home. What makes you like South Africa so much?

South Africa has 19 National Parks, including the famous Kruger National Park, a reserve so large it’s the size of Belgium. Add to that the countless private game reserves, farms, and lodges, and it’s no wonder our country is one of the world’s top wildlife destinations. “Come to South Africa and we will show you.” Visiting a reserve is one of greatest pleasures for families. It’s a day of slowing down, breathing deeply, and letting nature reveal her secrets. You can drive for hours, scanning the long grass and thick bush for animals cleverly hiding from sight. But there is one animal that rarely hides: the giraffe. With its long neck rising above the treetops, it’s almost impossible to miss. I can’t remember a single game drive where we didn’t encounter these gentle giants. I don’t go looking for the Big Five — I look for giraffes. Their movements are so graceful and peaceful that watching them feels like attending a ballet. I don’t need an opera house for Swan Lake; I have my own performance under the African sky. Did You Know? 𓃱 Giraffes are the tallest animals on Earth. 𓃱 Like human fingerprints, no two giraffes have the same pattern. 𓃱 Their long necks act like periscopes, helping them spot predators. 𓃱Their tongues are blue to protect them from sunburn while feeding. 𓃱 They can eat up to 42 kg of leaves and twigs per day. 𓃱 Despite their gentle nature, giraffes can be dangerous — they run fast and deliver powerful kicks with hooves the size of dinner plates. 𓃱A newborn giraffe drops two meters to the ground at birth and can walk within an hour. Indeed! It does! Without it, we wouldn’t connect the way we do. At least, that’s how I feel.
