What do you find easiest in Japanese: reading, listening, writing, or speaking? For me, it would be reading. I find reading the easiest because it is so fun, engaging, and rewarding. When I read Japanese, I can go at my own pace. If I don't know a word, I can look it up. If I don't understand a sentence, I can read it again. I also love the feeling of seeing something that once looked impossible and realising: "Hey, I can actually understand this!" Whether it's a manga, a sign, a menu, or a short story, every sentence feels like progress. --- ๐Ÿ’ก My Tip: Try Tadoku One thing I'd recommend to every learner is ๅคš่ชญ๏ผˆใŸใฉใ / tadoku๏ผ‰, which means extensive reading. The idea is simple: ๐Ÿ“– Read lots of easy Japanese. Don't stop to look up every word. Don't worry about understanding 100%. Just keep reading and enjoying the language. The amazing thing about tadoku is that it helps improve: โœ… Reading โœ… Vocabulary โœ… Grammar recognition โœ… Listening (because you recognise more words) โœ… Speaking (because you see natural Japanese again and again) It's one of the most enjoyable ways to improve your Japanese. ๐Ÿง  Mini Japanese ่ชญใ‚€๏ผˆใ‚ˆใ‚€๏ผ‰ yomu to read ่žใ๏ผˆใใ๏ผ‰ kiku to listen ่ฉฑใ™๏ผˆใฏใชใ™๏ผ‰ hanasu to speak ๆ›ธใ๏ผˆใ‹ใ๏ผ‰ kaku to write ๅคš่ชญ๏ผˆใŸใฉใ๏ผ‰ tadoku extensive reading (with an emphasis on fun). ๐Ÿซต Your Turn Which do you find easiest? ๐Ÿ“– Reading ๐ŸŽง Listening โœ๏ธ Writing ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ Speaking And why? I think reading is probably easiest in any other language because of those reasons you mentioned, you can take it at your own pace and look things up as you need to. However, having learnt a little bit of Japanese, and understanding the sounds of the language, I find it interesting to listen to it too. The sounds can be quite easy to pick out, as they are quite short and snappy and different to English, but combine into words and phrases. I don't necessarily understand it all, but I feel that I can generally pick out most of the sounds that were made, and mostly in the right order when doing listening challenges on DuoLingo.
