Hello! Just joined as I am hiring a role for an Airtable expert
Thank you for welcoming me into this cool community. I have a really exciting opportunity - which could evolve into many other projects for a London based consumer goods merchandising company. Job Spec below:
I’m looking for a developer with strong experience designing structured databases (ideally airtable) and rebuilding internal workflow systems for real-world operational teams.
This involves consolidating many Excel sheets into a unified schema, designing clean data models, and building practical ingestion + workflow automations (PDF/email/SharePoint → structured records).
This is for a mid-sized consumer goods supplier (private-label style).
Timeline: 2-3 months starting in January (design starting ASAP). Would be very hands on / full-time
Timezone: Strong overlap with UK hours.
Rate: Day rate or project rate – open.
If interested, please send examples only (1-2 min Looms are ideal).
Please provide:
1. Loom(s) or screen-share demos of relevant work:
  • A database or internal tool you architected
  • Any workflow system (CP engine, operations tracking, etc.)
  • Any Excel → database migration you’ve done
  • Any ingestion: emails/PDFs/SharePoint/Drive → structured data
(Blur/redact anything sensitive — structure is what matters.)
2. Additional proof:
  • Screenshots / case studies
  • Before/after examples of messy → structured systems
What the Build Involves
  • Designing a structured, scalable database to replace fragmented spreadsheets (the design is very important as there current structure is very messy)
  • Migrating/collapsing hundreds of Excel sheets into a single schema
  • Building a workflow layer with milestones, dependencies, statuses, and team visibility
  • Ingesting briefs and documents (emails, PDFs, SharePoint folders) into structured records
  • Setting foundations for additional modules later (costing engine, concept library, etc.)
Tech stack is flexible — Airtable (ideally), Supabase, or a custom DB are all options, depending on UX/performance needs.
Skills That Matter Most
CORE (Must Have):
  • Database architecture & schema design Linked tables, normalisation, field structures, data integrity
  • Experience consolidating large quantities of spreadsheets into a clean data model
  • Ability to design multi-team workflows (status, dependency, handoff logic)
  • Experience with automation glue (Make.com, Zapier, n8n, or lightweight scripts)
  • Strong communication: explain trade-offs, limitations, and risks clearly
NICE TO HAVE (Not required but useful):
  • Airtable (or similar DB-as-UI)
  • Supabase / lightweight custom DBs
  • Experience ingesting documents (PDF/email/SharePoint)
  • LLM-assisted extraction
  • Experience with UI front end frameworks
Quick Practical Questions
Please include short answers (2–3 lines each):
  1. Your preferred stack for this kind of internal operations system (and why).
  2. Example of a large spreadsheet → structured database migration you’ve done.
  3. Example of a workflow/milestone/dependency system you’ve built.
  4. Availability (hours/week) + UK time overlap.
  5. Typical day rate or project pricing.
