What's in the ABA data tool — and how to use it
The 509α data tool covers every ABA-accredited law school from 2011 to 2025. Here is what's in it and how to get the most out of it.
What's tracked for every school:
→ Admissions — LSAT 25th, 50th, and 75th percentile, GPA ranges, acceptance rates, application volumes, 15-year trend
→ Tuition — resident and non-resident, year over year since 2011
→ Scholarships — conditional scholarship elimination rates, grant distribution by tier, median grant amounts
→ Bar passage — first-time and ultimate passage rates, trend over time
→ Employment — FTLT placement rates, BigLaw vs government vs public interest, sector breakdown
→ Enrollment — total JD enrollment trends, 1L class size, attrition rates
How to use it:
Download the spreadsheet from the Classroom. Use Dashboard A to pull up any school's full profile. Use Dashboard B to run the ROI calculator — enter your LSAT and GPA and it shows you admission likelihood, expected scholarship, net cost, and break-even years by career path.
A web-based version is coming. For now everything is in the Excel file.
Post your data questions here. If you want me to pull a specific number for a specific school, ask in this category and I will pull it from the dataset.
