WHY I CREATED THE 0.1% MAN
My mentor Bob Proctor would say, “man who shoot at nothing, sure to hit it”
I remember the first time I met Bob. It was 2006 and the film, The Secret had just come out. I had only a few months earlier read the first book in my whole life, Think & Grow Rich which completely blew my mind so watching the secret was like the movie version of the book. In the film there was a golden haired man wearing a beige suit, his voice was magical, it was Bob.
June 1, 2006 I quit working at the mechanic shop I helped my dad start in 2001. Prior to the books and the movie, I thought my future was pretty well planned out. I was a high school drop out (never even got a GED). My high school was on the national news because my friends were involved in a gang related murder on State Street in Salt Lake City. I was supposed to go out that night but staying in bed with my girlfriend sounded like a better idea, and it was. My dad told me to drop out of school and go to work full time as a mechanic because that’s what I was naturally so good at it. I was making $1000 per week before my friends even graduated high school. I bought a duplex when I was 18 and my second house a year later in 2001. I was living the American dream. But when I got new information in my head it changed everything and I knew I would never live out my purpose as a mechanic, so I had to burn my ships and never look back. That summer I lost EVERYTHING! My Duramax and S2000 REPOED! 1000RR REPOED! My house was nearly foreclosed on. I was mowing lawns listening to uncle Bob talk about the universal principles and how to use your mind to create the life of your dreams. His voice gave me hope, confidence that this was the path I had to walk or I would forever regret living a life of quiet misery.
In 2013, after fruitful 7 years in telemarketing, my business partner and I were no longer a good fit and decided it best to go our separate ways. I was left unsure of what my next move was until a fateful reconnection with a friend James Barker made everything clear. On a phone call with James and Bob was brought up. Somehow the idea of becoming a Bob Proctor coach came up and without hesitation, I knew my next move. I paid my tuition and started studying. Later that year I create my first coaching course. I held the small classes at my house. The course was 12 weeks long. Each week we would meetup and I would teach a lesson on universal principles and how to use the power of your mind to change your life. What was different about my course versus Bob’s was I gamified it. I turned life into a game. I broke life into 5 core areas: HEALTH, WEALTH, RELATIONSHIPS, SPIRITUALITY, PURPOSE. Everyday you were to take an action in each area that moved your life in the direction of your ultimate vision of your dream life. It was a great chapter, I met some incredible people, I learned a lot about teaching other people. I loved helping other people learn what I did that so radically transformed my life back in 2005/6.
In 2018 I went to Toronto to work with Bob more closely. They say you never want to meet your hero’s. Well, in the case of Bob, that isn’t true. Bob was like an angel. You could feel his vibration. He embodied what he taught. The first time I went to his house and into his library my mind was blown. He had dedicated his life to learning why some people we able to create such extraordinary results, seemingly effortlessly; while others, no matter how hard they tried couldn’t.
It all came down to The Paradigm.
As the new year approaches, many people look back over the year and over their lives and see where their life has come to. Many people set resolutions to change the results they’ve gotten, in hopes of creating a transformation, unfortunately, studies show that less than 30 days into January 80% of people have given up and by middle of February 80% of the 20% are done.
Why?
Because you are trying to force your will upon your body to create change rather than reprogramming your Paradigm or your Identity.
Your will power is like a gas tank. Unfortunately, for most people, the older you get the less you have in the tank. What’s that saying? The road to hell is lined with good intentions… It’s only a matter of time before your will power is gone and you revert back to your Paradigm.
Be honest with yourself, you’re fat, you’re terrible with money, you’re a poor communicator, you hold grudges… THIS IS YOUR PARADIGM. This is what you really believe about yourself.
  • I am fat
  • I am lazy
  • I lack commitment
  • I lack control
  • I lack discipline
“By their fruits, you shall know them”. Our results tell our whole story.
I have a gift of being able to have a conversation with someone and within in hour I know everything about them. Not only because for some weird reason people literally throw up their whole life story on my, then at the end say, “I don’t know why I just told you all that”. I just say, “I’m a really good listener” ;)
In the end, you can easily predict the next 10 years of someone life based on how they’ve been living the last 10 and even the short few. There is no stagnation in the universe, there is only growth or decay. It’s a binary game, win or lose.
Money doesn’t make you successful if it cost you time with your kids, or your health, or your marriage. The things we’ve been conditioned to chase as men are bottomless holes: money, sex, fun, distraction, pleasure… The 7 deadly sins.
99% of men are living lives of quite desperation, chasing quick rushes of dopamine fueled pleasure. Aimlessly drifting through life with no real purpose, just surviving.
1% of men think their successful because they have material success, but inside their empty and there isn’t enough drugs, sex, cars or experiences to fill the hole left inside since childhood.
Then there are the 0.1% of men. The ones who have done the work. Healed the past. Enjoy all that life has to offer but don’t self identify with it. They live with love, grace, compassion and gratitude but they’re always strapped and down to do whatever it takes when the alarm sounds.
Whether you want to accept it or not. Every morning when you wake up, you’re plugging back into the game and, “by their fruits, you shall know them”. You’re in one of the 3 groups: one of the heard, one of the chasers or one of the chosen.
I don’t know about you but, I want to be a 0.1% man. I want to win the fucking game! I want to get as far as I can in this one short life that I’ve got.
I would rather die giving it all I’ve got to become the best I can be. To grow as close to God as I possible can than end up on my death bed wishing I wouldn’t have been a slave to my weaknesses.
I want to make my son proud, my parents proud, my grandma and my ancestors proud.
I want to help other men reclaim what they lost or didn’t even know they had within them. Because, back in 2005, I didn’t know what I had inside me. But damn I’m so grateful I took the call.
